When it comes to a premium brand like Peroni Nastro Azzurro, every detail matters. This personal project was designed to explore the creative and technical approaches behind product photography, drawing inspiration from the refined Italian essence of the brand. Our goal was to transform a simple beer bottle into a symbol of freshness and elegance, demonstrating how attention to detail can elevate a product into a piece of visual art.

The vision behind the image
Our aim was to craft an image that conveys the superior quality of Peroni Nastro Azzurro without working directly with the brand’s creative team. The image had to be minimalist, sophisticated, and communicate a strong message of freshness and refinement, suitable for various mediums such as digital, outdoor, and print.
Key objectives:
- Highlight the texture of the bottle and authentic product details.
- Create the perfect foam in the glass for a visually engaging effect.
- Use lighting and composition to emphasize the golden hues of the beer, delivering a premium look.
The shooting process
The vision comes to life
- PLANNING AND RESEARCH
We began by studying the core values and positioning of Peroni Nastro Azzurro to identify the best visual elements that would reflect its premium essence. Our initial phase included testing different backgrounds and lighting techniques to achieve a visual style that communicates both luxury and sophistication.TECHNICAL SETUP
- Lighting: We employed a precise lighting configuration with a diffused main light to eliminate harsh reflections and accent lights to enhance the texture of the bottle and beer foam. A subtle backlight created a halo effect, adding depth to the image.
- Bottle Texture: To achieve a fresh, natural look, we carefully misted the bottle with a fine layer of water and a glycerin mixture. This technique ensured that droplets remained intact throughout the shoot.
VISUAL COMPOSITION
The composition was designed to position the bottle and glass prominently in the foreground, angled slightly upwards to convey significance and stature. The label was intentionally aligned for clear visibility, with the surrounding elements guiding the viewer’s focus toward the product.Camera Settings
To capture every essential detail, the following setup was used:- Camera: Nikon Z8, 48 MP
- Lens: Nikon Z-mount 85mm f/1.2
- Settings: f/8, ISO 64, shutter speed 1/160
The camera was mounted on a Peak Design tripod and positioned at a low angle for a strong, balanced perspective.

TIPS & TRICKS
Throughout this project, we uncovered several valuable insights:- Authentic Condensation: A mix of water and glycerin, applied with a spray bottle, creates a realistic condensation effect, giving the appearance of a product fresh out of the fridge.
- Long-Lasting Foam: Adding salt to beer induces a natural reaction that produces rich, stable foam. While we also experimented with detergent in the glass prior to pouring the beer, the salt method provided superior results for this shoot.
- Warm Lighting: Using gold-tinted reflective paper to bounce light onto the beer enhances its golden hues, creating a more appetizing and premium look.
Shooting Duration: Approximately 4 hours.
